Philadelphia (CW Philly) — Breathe it in; spring is in the air! As exciting as it is, it also means it’s time to clean. The idea of scrubbing your windows and dusting the baseboards can be daunting, but don’t let your to-do list scare you. Tip Hero has tons of helpful cleaning hacks to help you tackle your spring cleaning this year.

Carpet Stains

  • Iron
  • Washcloth


  1. Turn your iron on.
  2. Dampen a washcloth.
  3. Place the damp washcloth on top of the carpet stain.
  4. Place warm iron on top of washcloth.

  • 1 Part Water
  • 1 Part Vinegar
  • Sponge


  1. Fill a bowl with 1 part water and 1 part vinegar and microwave on high for 2 minutes. (This will steam clean the microwave).
  2. Wipe microwave down.


Tile Grout

  • 3/4 Cup Baking Soda
  • 1/4 Cup Bleach
  • Old Toothbrush

  1. Mix baking soda and bleach together to create a paste.
  2. Apply mixture to grout using an old toothbrush. (Let sit 10 min)
  3. Work the mixture deeper into the grout with the toothbrush. (Let sit 5-10 min)
  4. Rinse off the mixture.

  • Water
  • Spray Bottle
  • Baking Soda
  • Rag
  • Vinegar
  • Small Bowl


  1. Remove the oven racks. These can be soaked in the sink with hot water and vinegar.
  2. Mix 2 spoonfuls of baking soda with some water in the bowl to create a paste.
  3. Spread the paste on the inside of the oven. Let it sit overnight (at least 12 hours).
  4. Take a wet rag and wipe out as much of the paste as you can.
  5. Put some vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz on surfaces where you still see baking soda residue. Then, wipe with a wet rag.
  6. Put the racks back in the oven, and turn the oven on a very low temperature for 15-20 minutes to let dry.

  • 1 Part Water
  • 1 Part Vinegar
  • 2 Old Socks
  • Mixing Bowl


  1. Combine 1 part water and 1 part vinegar in a mixing bowl.
  2. Dip sock in water/ vinegar mixture
  3. Wipe down individual slats.
  4. Use another sock to dry off the wet slats.
