After being a bridesmaid in more weddings than she could count on one hand — Jennifer Glantz realized she had the skills and inside insight to become a Professional Bridesmaid.
“I witnessed firsthand the stress that brides experience and decided that there was a need in the bridal industry that wasn’t being fulfilled yet,” Glantz explained on her website. “Simply put, there was no one there whose job it was to focus entirely on the bride.”
So Glantz took matters into her own hands posting an ad on Craigslist offering her services as a self-proclaimed professional bridesmaid. In the ad, she boasted skills and abilities which included:
- Holding up the 18 layers of your dress so that you can pee with ease on your wedding day.
- Catching the bouquet and then following that moment up with my best Miss America-like “Omg, I can’t believe this” speech.
- Doing the Electric and the Cha Cha slides.
- Responding in a timely manner to pre-wedding email chains created by other bridesmaids and the Maid of Honor.
The overwhelming response to the ad lead her to her current business venture known as Bridesmaid for Hire. But the one-of-a-kind bridal service is not exactly as cut and dry as you would think.
Glantz offers four different packages for brides-to-be to choose from, and they don’t all necessarily involve someone standing at the altar with you.READ MORE: PEOPLE & The CW Team Up For 2 Royal Primetime Specials
There is the ‘Virtual Bridesmaid’ package which is described as an extra pair of ears to help get you through any sudden problems or challenges on your way to the altar. Then there is the ‘Undercover Bridesmaid’ package which allows you to hire someone who does all the “dirty work” that the bridesmaids may not have time to do. Then, of course, there is the ‘Bridesmaid by Your Side’ package which literally sends you a bridesmaid to support you through every single aspect of your wedding planning process.
Other services include Bridesmaid Boot Camp which helps to get you and your bridal party in shape and focused in time for the big day.
According to the Bridesmaid for Hire website, services range from $199 to over $1000.
So what sets Bridesmaid for Hire apart from your traditional wedding planner?
According to Glantz, wedding planners are not only focused on the bride-to-be, but they are also focused on every single other aspect of the wedding including the decorations, the vendors, the venue just to name a few.
Bridesmaid for Hire works specifically with the bride and only the bride, addressing her every single need.MORE NEWS: Holiday Programming Updates: iHeartRadio Jingle Ball
