Adding hot water to brown powder and calling it hot chocolate? Not in my book! Making hot chocolate from scratch is easy, and quite frankly, more delicious.

What you’ll need:

-milk (whole, skim, coconut, soy, almond, etc.)

-your favorite kind of 1.55 oz. chocolate bar (dark, white, milk, etc.)

-whipped cream

-cheese grater or micro-plane

How to assemble your hot chocolate:

-Bring  your milk of choice to a simmer (not boil) in a small pot

-Meanwhile, melt (all but a sliver of) your chocolate in a microwave safe bowl. You’ll want to microwave on half-power, so your chocolate doesn’t burn.

-When your milk is hot and your chocolate is melted, whisk them both together in pot. Use about 1/2 of the chocolate bar per cup of milk

-Top with whipped cream and shave remainder of chocolate on top with cheese grater or micro-plane

Enjoy!
