PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — As if you needed another reason to log into your Facebook — the social media giant unveiled “Instant Games” which allows you to play games like “Pac-Man” with your contacts in the Messenger App.  This is not Facebook’s first foray into gaming — you “FarmVille” fans know what I am talking about.

Facebook also tested the waters with Messenger App games earlier in this year.  You may not have known that you could play soccer and basketball via your messenger app by simply sending a basketball or soccer ball emoji to someone in your contacts.  Other games you can now play include classics like “Space Invaders” and “Galaga,” as well as popular games like “Words With Friends Frenzy”.

To access the Messenger App’s gaming feature, you simply challenge a friend by clicking the gaming controller icon at the bottom of your conversation thread and then choose a game on the list.  By clicking play the game then launches from within the Messenger App.

The “Instant Games” feature has been launched in 30 countries as of today, and offers 17 game titles.
