Grab that popcorn: there may be at least one sequel to the 2011 hit “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”!

While there’s been no official confirmation that the next two books in the Stieg Larsson trilogy, “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and ‘The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Next,” will be adapted into English-language films, director David Finch says there is a possibility.

“I think because [Sony] already has spent millions of dollars on the rights and the script, it will result in something,” Finch dished to Swedish site Afton Bladet. “The script that we now have has huge potential. I can reveal that it is extremely different from the book.”

The original “Dragon Tattoo” film starred Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig and won various accolades, including a Best Actress Oscar nom for Mara.

While we wait for those potential sequels, Fincher is busy promoting another movie, “Gone Girl,” based on Gillian Flynn’s bestseller. That film is slated to premiere October 3rd.
