If you follow Ian Somerhalder on Twitter, you’ll often see him shedding light on environmental issues in the gulf coast and around the world.
It’s apparent that “The Vampire Diaries” star cares deeply about future of the blue and green ball we all live on — otherwise known as Earth. Now there’s a way to read more of the complex story of simultaneously being a committed actor and environmental activist.
“Fame: Ian Somerhalder”, was recently released by Bluewater Productions and is available in print and digital.
According to the publisher’s description, “Read the life story of the young actor who works to restore the gulf after the devastating effects of the BP disaster while balancing the demands of Hollywood stardom.”
The 32-page comic book is written by Michael L. Frizell with art by Manuel Diaz. The cover will feature design by famous artist Nelson Hernandez.
In an interview with Young Hollywood’s Baruch Shemtov, Somerhalder described his motivation for starting the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and what it’s all about.
“We’ve reached a critical mass in our society where our need and desire for energy is ruining our environment.”
Among many avenues of change, the foundation promotes simple ways to save energy including turning off water while brushing teeth and ditching the standard incandescent bulb for LED or compact fluorescents.
His passion for protecting the planed came with the emotions he felt after the Deep Water Horizon disaster, “… feeling powerless and thinking and knowing that the only way to never feel this way again is to educate, empower and activate people.
