Taylor Swift wrapped up the U.S. leg of her RED Tour last month and has been hinting at new music. Today (October 21), her fans got a preview of one of the songs she’s been working on.
The track, “Sweeter than Fiction” sounds like it’s straight out of the ’80s with its synth-heavy beats and Swift’s radio friendly vocals that tell a tale of triumph that recalls, in part, the storyline of “Mean.”
“I’ve seen you fall, seen you crawl on your knees . . . wish I could make it better/ Some day you won’t remember/ This pain you thought would last forever and ever,” she sings.
The song was written with fun.‘s Jack Antonoff, who hints that the song is not only featured on the soundtrack for the British film One Chance, which tells the story of store clerk, Paul Potts, who goes on to win Britain’s Got Talent, but was inspired by a certain well-known director from the ’80s.
