Longtime couple and new parents, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, may finally be taking that walk down the aisle.
This week the Supreme Court ruled that the federal ban on same sex marriage was unconstitutional, meaning millions of gay couples who’s right to marry was previously denied will finally be able to tie the knot.
Although they have been engaged since 2009, Bell and Shepard previously vowed not to marry until everyone was allowed the same right.
Bell told The Advocate back in 2012, “The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my gay and lesbian friends. That’s why we’ve been so hesitant.”
She continued, “Dax and I have talked about it a lot, and this issue is very important to both of us. We’re just standing up for what we believe in. Period.”
Once the Defense of Marriage Act was struck down, Bell almost immediately tweeted to Shepard “Will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove”
Shepard enthusiastically responded, “DOMA is dead! Prop 8 is dead! Now let’s bring on my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to life!”
Bell certainly has a lot on her plate this year. She is currently filming the fan-funded “Veronica Mars” movie and recently gave birth to a baby girl. Hope she is able to find some time to plan this wedding! Congrats!
