Philadelphia (CW Philly) — Chance the Rapper is one who truly appreciates and embraces where he’s from, giving back by constantly raising and donating money to his city. Over the past year, Chance has given his hometown with free concerts, benefit events, and more in order to rebuild and uplift its young community. In the most recent events, Chance has raised almost $2.2 million in order to fund 20 Chicago schools. (via VIBE)

Las week, the rapper did a live stream of him talking during a press conference. During the conversation, he discussed philanthropic initiatives, including the OpenMike program, Parade to the Polls, and his own foundation, the New Chance fund.

“Every contribution…brings this city and this nation closer to providing a well-rounded quality education for each and every child,” he stated. “Funding quality education for public [school] students is the most important investment a community can make.”

Chance has made generous donations toward Chicago and its Public Schools before. Earlier this year, Chance announced that he would donate $1 million to the school system.

Seeing the love that Chance the Rapper has for his city and his philanthropic efforts to uplift its community and youth is truly inspiring. It’s a wonderful thing to see all of great things he’s done for his city.
