Philadelphia (CW Philly) — If fans weren’t already excited and raving about the recently announced Joker origins movie, it looks like the movie will have some very similar competition.
The Hollywood Reporter was told that Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the team behind the hit show “This Is Us”, were in talks to write and direct a spinoff movie starring Jared Leto’s Joker and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, reprising the same roles from the movie “Suicide Squad”. (via Complex)
Hollywood Reporter says that the spinoff movie on 2 of DC Comics most notable villains will be released after a Suicide Squad sequel.
Jared Leto reprising his role as The Joker comes as a surprise as the other upcoming Joker movie, which will involve Martin Scorsese, will not feature Jared Leto. The new Joker role will be given instead to a “younger” to fill in. That film will be directed by Todd Phillips and be co-written by Phillips and Scott Silver.
With the recent announcement, fans not only have one but two Joker movies to look forward to. It’s possible that the Joker could be making further appearances as well as DC Comics has a few more projects that have yet to be announced. As a fan favorite, people won’t be getting tired of seeing The Joker anytime soon.
