Jay-Z, Mayor Nutter Set To Announce Labor Day Weekend Music Festival

By Jim Melwert

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Rapper Jay-Z is expected to join Mayor Michael Nutter on Monday morning atop the steps of the Art Museum to announce a two-day music festival in Philadelphia.

The event, called “Made in America,” will take place on Labor Day weekend in Fairmount Park, but exactly where it is remains a bit unclear. Rumors indicated it would take place along the Ben Franklin Parkway.

According to the New York Times, organizers say the festival will include 28 musical acts on three stages.

A list of artists was not immediately available.

Organizers say while Jay-Z will headline the event, it’s not just hip hop, but also everything from rock to R&B.

Tickets will reportedly go on sale May 23rd, with an undisclosed portion of the proceeds going to the United Way.
